Travel Tips

What Should I pack?

Hawaii's temperatures are moderate all through the year and the atmosphere leans towards informal. You should focus on packing casual clothes, shorts, t-shirts, a few collared shirts, and a long sleeved shirt. More importantly, don’t forget to pack a bathing suit or two. It also might be a good idea to bring sunglasses, a hat, sun block, insect repellent, windbreaker or light rain jacket. Remember that once you get to the islands, aloha wear is always acceptable, even at the fancier restaurants.

In-Season Costs

Don’t worry, it's not as bad as you thought! There is a lot to see and do on all the islands. A budget of $20 per day for sightseeing and beverages should be fine. Museums on the islands will range from $7 to $10 for adult admission. For everyday eating, there are many reasonably priced and inexpensive restaurants. Check your local island listings. Nighttime fun and dining can range from a moderately priced dinner meal of $15 to 5-star restaurant prices. Finally, for accommodations expect pay around $150 a night for a business-class hotel. Of course there are numerous other places to choose from, such as functional hostels with dorm style sleeping to grand luxurious hotels.

How Will I Get Around?

After arrival you’ll have several options on offer to get around town. The most obvious way to get around is to rent a car at any airport. However, this is not the only mode of transportation. If you prefer not to hassle with maps then a taxi is perfect, the cost varies from island to island but should be no more than $25 to $30 on any island to take you from one side to the other. Finally the cheapest route is taking the bus, it will take you around the whole island for under $5.

Will I Have Any Problems Returning Home?

While it maybe a little sad to leave paradise, returning home will be as easy as arriving. Be sure to arrive early for your plane, because there is an agricultural inspection. Don’t worry though, it not a big deal. Security just makes sure all departing luggage does not contain any fruits, vegetables, flowers or plants that are non-certified. In other words the beautiful flowers and delicious pineapples must stay on the island.
